Profile
I research, write, and teach on how performance theory and practice can help us better understand our shared histories of coloniality, violence, and structural inequality across the Américas, and particularly in Brazil. With Diana Taylor, I coedited the multilingual digital books (2015) and (2021). My essays have been published in several academic journals, including the Journal of Global South Studies,Latin American Theatre Review,TDR: The Drama Review,Theater: Yale's Journal of Criticism, Plays & Reportage, and Theatre Topics. Together with scholars from several different countries, languages, and disciplines, I organize panels and working sessions that explore how performance, both as practice and methodology can expand our understanding of the rise of neofascism and the politics of hope across the Américas. I'm currently writing a book that addresses the performance, policy, and politics of the Workers' Party in Brazil, from 2002 to 2016.
Before joining the 鶹ýɫƬ, I've taught at the in Brazil, , , and at the .
