Lang’s General Degree Requirements
In addition to the requirements outlined here, Lang has specific requirements, including a minimum number of credits in liberal arts courses as well as college residency requirements. All students should read Lang’s General Degree Requirements and consult with their Student Success advisor each semester to ensure that they are on track to graduate.
Students in the Adult Bachelor's Program who are interested in studying anthropology should consult with their core faculty advisor.

Bachelor’s-Master’s Program
Undergraduates in the BA/MA program can earn up to 18 credits (depending on the master's program) in Â鶹´«Ã½É«ÇéƬ master's courses and apply those graduate credits to both their BA and their MA. Submission of the Bachelor’s-Master’s application is required
(members of the direct-entry cohort do not have to submit an application but do have to declare the Bachelor's-Master's combination they wish to pursue). Students should consult their Student Success advisor if they are pursuing a BA/MA.
Requirements for the BA in Anthropology for Students Who Began Their Studies at Lang Before the Fall 2026 Semester
As of fall 2020, Lang students declaring the major in Anthropology must take 12 courses, outlined as follows. Students must earn a grade of C or higher in all courses to meet the requirements for the major in Anthropology. Declare your major by following
the process outlined in .ÌýStudents who have declared the major in Anthropology
before fall 2020 but wish to follow the fall 2020 curriculum can consult their Student Success advisor about submitting a Change of Catalog Year request.

In order to petition for transfer credits, or for a non-Anthropology (LANT) course to count toward their AnthropologyÌýdegree requirements, students must submit the following to the Director of Undergraduate Studies/Departmental Faculty Advisor:Ìý
- For future courses: 1) a roughly 150-word rationale explaining how the course pertains to their anthropologicalÌýresearch interests and supplements their other anthropology coursework; 2) the course description; and 3) a note from the course instructor
in which they grant permission for the student to enroll and very briefly indicate how the course could support the student’s anthropological learning goals
- For past courses for which the student is seeking transfer credit: 1) a roughly 150-word rationale explaining how the course pertains to their anthropologicalÌýresearch interests and supplements theirÌýother anthropology coursework; and 2) a copy of
the syllabus

Required courses
- Four 2000- or 3000-level Anthropology courses.* At least two must be 2000 level. (12-16 credits)
- Six 3000- or 4000-level Anthropology courses.* At least one must be 4000 level. (18-24 credits).Ìý
- One 2000- or 3000-level foreign language or area of study course. An area of study course is related coursework in history, philosophy, sociology, politics,Ìýor another subject area pertinent toÌýthe student’s research focus and approved by the Director
