Dr. Christopher Bush holds the position of Principal Clarinet with both theÌýGlens Falls Symphony Orchestra and Metro Chamber Orchestra, and is a member of the Symphony of Westchester. He was a founding member of the contemporary ensemble, CallithumpianÌýConsort. Previously Principal Clarinetist with the Boston CivicÌýSymphony, Christopher has also performed with the Boston Philharmonic,ÌýAlbany Symphony, New York String Orchestra, Indian Hill Symphony, CapeÌýCod Symphony, Nashua Symphony, Granite State Opera, Granite StateÌýSymphony, New England Philharmonic, Westchester Chamber Symphony,ÌýDiCapo Opera, Seoul Philharmonic, and the North Country ChamberÌýPlayers. Christopher has also performed as a soloist with the Orchestra Slobozhansky (Ukraine), GlensÌýFalls Symphony, the New England Conservatory Symphony, and NewÌýYork University Symphony Orchestra. He is also the Co-Founder of the SummerlandÌýMusic Society in upstate New York.
Dr. Bush has performed in concert series throughout the world, including Les Flaneries Musicales d’Ete in Reims, France, the Open Air Klassik Hoppegarten in Berlin, London New Winds Festival (UK), Asian Composers League (Seoul), Âé¶¹´«Ã½É«Ç鯬 Concert Series, Harvard Group For New Music, Boston’s New Gallery Concert Series, NEC’s Keller Jazz Series, the Boston New Arts Initiative, the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum’s Young Artists Showcase, and New London’s Summer Music Series in New Hampshire. In Boston’s Jordan Hall, he has taken part in the Composer’s Series, Enchanted Circle Series,ÌýTuesdayÌýNew Music Series, and annual Festival Weeks. Additionally, Christopher has performed in New York's Galapagos Art Space, The Tank, Alice Tully Hall, and Carnegie Hall.
Dr. Bush has worked with composers Gunther Schuller, Steve Reich,ÌýFrederic Rzewski, Lee Hyla, Alvin Lucier, Michael Finnissy, JoanÌýTower, Pozzi Escot, Lowell Liebermann, Paul Elwood, Michael Gandolfi,ÌýWalter Zimmermann, John Heiss, Tamar Diesendruck, and Malcolm PeytonÌýon performances of their own music. With the Glens Falls Symphony,ÌýChristopher commissioned and premiered Michael Gandolfi's ÌýAnthemÌýforÌýsolo clarinet and string orchestra. With frequent recital partner andÌýpianist Carol Minor, Christopher has commissioned works from composersÌýYumi Hara Cawkwell, Curtis Hughes, Izzi Ramkissoon, Pozzi Escot, andÌýLawrence Dillon.Ìý Israeli composer Guy Barash'sÌýTalkback IÌýwas also written for Dr. Bush.
Christopher's performances have been broadcast on WGBH (Boston) and KBS (Korea) radio stations. On telvision, CHristoher ahs performed on the PBS specialÌýA Taste of ChanukahÌýand Korea's MBC, SBS, KBS, and Arirang networks. A featred soloist on the soundtrack o the Huntington Theatre's production ofÌýDead End, Christopher has also recorded for Albany, Mode, and Naxos Records.
Dr. Bush completed his MM and BM at the New England Conservatory and the PhD at New York University.ÌýChristopher has been on the faculties of the Boston Community Music Center, the Chestnut Hill School of Music, the Brimmer and May School, the Lincoln Public Schools, the Northampton Community Music Center, Fidelity Mutual's Future Stages project, and the Convent of the Sacred Heart in Greenwich, CT. He is currently the Executive Director and Clarinetist with Summerland Music Society, a chamber music series in upstate New York. He is also on faculty at Mannes Prep, Luzerne Music Center, and New York University, where he teaches Clarinet and Chamber Music, Orchestral Repertoire, directs the NYU Composers Ensemble, and is the Academic Advisor for Instrumental Music.
