    Profile

Nika Simovich Fisher is a writer, designer, and educator in New York. She is a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Communication Design at Parsons School of Design, where she directs the AAS program. Her research looks at how design shapes what people believe (politically, spiritually, culturally, and about themselves) and brings overlooked histories of the internet and graphic design into contemporary conversations about technology.

Her writing ranges from the digitization of Serbian Cyrillic typefaces to the aesthetics of trash metaphors in interface design, the role of AI in spirituality, and the politics of names. Her work has appeared in The New York Times, MIT Technology Review, WIRED, Fast Company, AIGA Eye on Design, and Dirt, and has been cited in both design history courses and theological journals.

She is the founder of Labud, a design studio specializing in strategy, branding, and web design for clients across fashion, publishing, and technology. Additionally, she currently serves on the board of AIGA New York.

Nika was born in Belgrade, Serbia and grew up in the United States. She holds a BFA from Parsons School of Design and a masters degree in journalism from Columbia University.
